Intel AMT FW Update

$

Hi @ all,

i have an issue with an Client, to be exact with an Fujitsu P720. Cant´t use Intel AMT because there is no possibility to update the FW. If i´m going to the bios settings or type ctrl+p i came into the MEBx Setup, but the only Option i have is to change FW Update [enabled|disabled|password protected] or leave the menue. There is no option to change the admin password or enter the full menue. I tried to Update it by using the Update from the Manufacturer site but haven´t any success. I mean the Update run successfully but there is nothing changed except the version number. I´ve also installed the required drivers, but, No way.

Do you have any idea what could be wrong or how i can solve this Problem.

This is what i get when i´m using the MEinfo.exe.

Many thanks in advance for your help

Kind Regards

Kevin

How can I change the AMT 6 mode from Enterprise to Manual?

Hi,

I have HP Compaq 8100 Elite Convertible Minitower PC (BIOS 786H1 v01.05, AMT version 6.0.3, firmware version 6.0.3.1195). I have activated AMT according to procedure described in the manual "vPro Setup and Configuration for the 8100 Business PC with Intel vPro Processor Technology". The xml configuration file which was generated by SCSDiscovery tool (see attached file fyslab1.xml) shows that the AMT is in the Enterprise Mode (AMT Configuration Mode->Enterprise Mode, AMT Configuration State->PKI). I can see the login screen for http://fyslab1.phys.uit.no:16992 and for VNC Plus (in Intel AMT KVM mode) but the authentication is failed (due to Enterprise Mode as I think). Unfortunately I found no possibility to change the mode to Manual Mode (SMB Mode) from MEBx. At the same time I cannot change AMT mode remotely because we have no Provisioning Server in our network. Could somebody advise how can I change the mode to Manual? Full unprovisioning and clear CMOS procedures did not help.

Thank you.

Intel AMT KVM: Accessing Multiple Servers Behind One Public IP Address

$

I have to host multiple servers in a collocation center which is distant over 250 km. I need to have as good remote control over the servers as possible. In other words, I need to be able to access BIOS of the servers, be able to turn the servers ON or OFF, or to remotely re-install the Operating System.

For this purpose the relatively fresh Intel vPro AMT KVM technology is just optimal and cost effective. I can access just one server over the public IP address of that server.

What I do not know is, how to access multiple servers via Intel vPro KVM, if they all are behind one Public IP Address. Will technologies like IP Address Translation or Port Forwarding work for me? Could you advise please, how to configure the network so, that I would be able to access any of the servers on the network if of course they all support Intel vPro AMT (and KVM)?

Thank you in advance.

DN2820 Setup

I have purchased 3 DN2820FYKH NUC 1 of which was DOA of the other 2 they are proving hard to configure and use. On one I installed Mint 17.1, then lubuntu, then kodibuntu and gave up none of these could access the Toshiba MQ01abd100 1TB AF512e HDD so I bought a copy of Windows 8,1 x64 and Windows 7 SP1 x64. On the replacement for the DOA unit I loaded win 8.1 with no problems,Icould access HDD from windows. I wanted to know if the other OSes I listed would work, I tried kodibuntu and again could not access The hdd from the OS, reformatted with Gparted to NTFS and tried Windows 7 and got BSOD with error BIOS not fully ACPI compliant. I received this error on both of the functioning units, one with BIOS rev 0034 the other with rev 0048 The BIOS settings I used are:

  1. Press F2 when prompted during boot to enter BIOS Setup.
  2. Press F9 to set all BIOS options to default values.
  3. Select Advanced.
    1. On the Devices and Peripherals > SATA menu,Chipset SATA Mode is set to AHCI.
    2. On the Boot > Boot Priority menu, in the Legacy Boot Priority pane, Legacy Boot is enabled (checked).
    3. On the Boot > Boot Configuration menu, in the UEFI Boot pane, OS Selection is set toWindows 7.
  4. Press F10 to save and exit BIOS Setup.

Proceed with the installation of the operating system.

which I got from the Intel Downloadcenter. If you have installed win 7 on this model NUC please post your BIOS rev number and settings.

User Consent Policy Problem

Hi,

i integrated Intel SCS with SCCM 2012.

All things are working fine, but if i configured my AMT machine with an RCS profile and the setting  "No User Consent required" the Intel KVM console requires everytime a user consent.

At the AMT Machine in the Control Utility it stands "No User Consent required for any session" and the Machine is in Admin Mode, so it seems ok.

If i use VNC Viewer Plus then i can go in with no user consent, depending on what configured in the settings before i establish the connection.

The Intel KVM Console for SCCM i used is this here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/21835

I think there is missing user consent feature in this console or is there a hidden setting?

Thanks four your suggestions.

Intel AMT - No Keyboard or Mouse

Hi,

We have a system with an Intel i7 CPU. We are able to connect to it with RealVNC using AMT and we are able to enter the BIOS with the F2 or DEL key (I forget which key). That works. As soon as POST finished keyboard and mouse do not work. For example when I PXE boot (pxeboot.com) it tells me to press F12 to PXE boot but F12 does not work. Or if I do PXE boot (pxeboot.n12) and boot the Windows 7 installation media (boot.wim) the mouse and keyboard do not work do I can proceed with the install once the installation CD boots up.

Any ideas why. I cant get much done.

Thanks

Todd

I have a customer setting up a driver respository for their standard platforms.  They need the drivers in the repository to be in sys/inf format for automatic builds on the target platforms.  The Intel chipset driver is only available as an exe.  Is there a way to get the inf type driver files from the exe?

I'm making tests with vPro and I'm quite newb at it, I've configured a computer ( hp 800 g1 amt version 9.0 ) with the most basic provisioning system, I can connect using kvm ( vnc pro ) and send ISO's by SoL and connect by web, but with the intel tool Manageability Commander Tool when I hit connect it tries to connect for hald a second and then stops trying, just wondering what I'm doing wrong

I have problems to provision 3rd party root certificate to an Intel AMT 6 machine.

The Setup.bin file i can create without problems with the USBFile tool from Intel SCS SDK 10 like here:

Creating a USB key for PKI provisioning

That's the output when i view the file:

But after i copied the Setup.bin file to a USB Stick (FAT Formatted, right?) and try to boot from it nothing happens.

This usb key provisioning utility mentioned in the thread isnt available anymore but i also tried this USB Key Provision Tool from Intel SCS Console.

Can you help me? Thanks

Hi All,

I am trying to do remote OS installation using Real VNC in a AMT/vPro supported PC.

The target PC has Intel Core i7-4790 Processor and Supermicro X10SLQ Motherboard, I was able to make a remote connection using Real VNC plus 1.2.8, I was able to reboot, power on/off the target PC, I was able to mount an ISO image but the problem is I cannot do remote OS installation.

Mounting the ISO:

I want to try the Active Management Technology in supporting systems with crashed operating system, I understand that the target PC should have a motherboard with AMT features and processor with vPro technology but how about the other system that I will be using in performing the task, does it have to with AMT capable motherboard also and processor with vPro technology.

The target PC has Intel Core i7-4790 Processor and Supermicro X10SLQ Motherboard while my other PC has Supermicro C7P67 and i5-2400 processor.

MPS - failed to read tcp forward request

Hey everyone,

We're trying to setup an AMT remote solution. We're successfully getting the connection from the AMT device, passing the certificate check but then we're stuck.

The MPS server gives us the following error: "AMT_Tunnel_Supplier: failed to read tcp forward request".

We're wondering if anyone here can give us a direction to were the problem comes from.

The full MPS log is attached.

Hi,

I have s Dell E6630 with vpro.

I followed instructions on How to Remotely Control Your PC (Even When it Crashes) to set up AMT on my laptop.

Now I can connect to the laptop using Manageability commander tool. But when I try to take control I get a just a black screen only instance it works when I boot into the bios. but all other aspects works perfectly even the viewer with realvnc.

I'm running both machines on the same subnet without any firewall.

Please help.

Thanks in Advance..

how to be able to enable standard port (5900) for kvm?

$

I'm using Manageability Commander Tool Mesh Edidion v0.1.34 ( yay for short names ), connecting to an AMT 9 machine ( HP 800 G1 ), this machine is using basic provisioning, when I connect and go to "remote desktop settings" I change "enable standard port (5900)" from disabled to enabled, but when I hit ok button this gives an error

something similar happens when I use wsmancli from a linux machine to change the same setting, it gives me an error ( now can't remember but can redo if needed )

so I'm thinking the problem is in the MEBx configuration, either I have to enable something or basic provisioning doesn't allow for this change

I can connect without problem with real vnc pro

MPS source missing files

$

I'm trying to compile MPS source (to debug this problem) in VS2013. However I have some troubles with the compilation.

First of all I figured out that I need an ACE library (which is not mentioned in any place except for AMT10.0.0.23\Linux\Intel_AMT\Src\MPS\Intel_AMT\Samples\MPS).

After downloading ACE and setting environment variables I discovered that I still have compilation errors and this time it's about missing files.

As an example, there is a #include "soapStub.h" line in ChannelConsumer.cpp. I've tried to search for soapStub.h but it doesn't exist in the whole AMT10.0.0.23 directory.

Anyone have any clue how to compile MPS sources and what are the necessary components and steps?

Thank you.

best way to send keystrokes by SoL under any circumstance?

$

by "any circumstance" I mean even if the host is on graphic mode, basically I want to bootup a computer and send some keystrokes to choose what grub2 option should bootup, don't know if there is any better way to do this, btw I want this for AMT 5.0, for 9.0 I will probably be using VNC, though if there is some command line option it would be welcome to ease up the automation process

amt will be on small bussines/basic provisioning

I've been doing tests with Manageability Commander Tool 0.1.34 and even with grub2 on text mode SoL keystrokes seem to work randomly with amt 5.0

SCCM2012 Add-on (RegKeyToMOF_32)

$

Hi.  I'm trying to integrate Intel AMT with SCCM2012 and am running into some issues.  After I import the sms_def_AMT.mof and sms_def_SCSDiscovery.mof, I can see that the hardware classes are added.  However, when I click on the hardware classes, all the Intel_AMT ones only show RegKeyToMOF_32.  Hence, SCCM is unable to detect any Intel AMT capable computers.  Anyone run into this before?
